ART III is an advanced level Art course. It is designed to push students to a higher level of creative thinking and problem solving to develop students that are college and career ready. Students taking Art III should be highly motivated to create and learn new media and be self-motivated to produce quality art. Students are expected to work more independently than in previous art classes and emphasis is placed on time management. The first 4 weeks of the course include media explorations. These explorations introduce students to new media and can be used with any project. A sketchbook is provided with 80 blank pages that must be complete by the end of the semester in addition to 7 major projects. All pages must be completed front and back for a total of 160 pages. Along with the projects, students must also write an artist statement for each project exploring inspiration, intent, reflections and connections to other artists.
