The HHS mission is to create a collaborative learning environment where success is the only option. We realize that this is only possible through the active participation of all stakeholders in the educational process.

HHS, home to over 800 students and 75 certified and classified staff members, is the largest school in Highland County; we offer a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular activities that challenge our students in multiple ways.

Our broad and comprehensive curriculum makes it possible for HHS students to prepare for the workplace or post-secondary study in many ways. We offer eight Advanced Placement courses (Calculus, Government, U.S. History, World History, Biology, English 12, Economics and Spanish) and 11 Honors courses (English 9, 10 and 11, Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Math, Integrated Science I, Biology, Chemistry, World History and American History). We offer five on-site dual credit courses including: College Algebra, College Trigonometry, Introduction to Chemistry, English Composition and Principles of Statistics.  We also have a comprehensive Agricultural Education program that provides a solid foundation for a career in the agriculture industry. The Industrial Technology department offers programs in metal and wood fabrication.   Our newest program is Project Lead the Way. PLTW is a pre-engineering program that encompasses a highly concentrated math and science curriculum designed to prepare students for the rigors and demands of higher education. Students can also benefit from Agricultural Education and PLTW by earning credit towards courses at SSCC if they decide to further their education after high school. Computer Programing and Technology is also a highlight, as our programs prepare students for all levels of computer literacy. Many of our students participate in summer camps and have placed at the top in competitions. When it comes to Fine Arts we have one of the best band and choral programs in the state. The choir has received recognition and performed several times at the OMEA Conference. The visual arts program is also very successful with many students often receiving recognition for their talent.

The High School offers several activities/organizations for students to be involved in including, NHS, Student Council, FFA and 16 varsity athletics. Athletics include tennis, soccer, cross country, track/field, football, baseball, volleyball, wrestling, golf, softball, basketball, swimming and bowling. The Athletic Department is anxious to utilize the new athletic complex beginning this fall.  The complex includes one of the best 8 lane track and field facilities at the high school level in the state.  The complex will also be utilized for boys and girls soccer competition.

As you navigate our website, you will learn about the Hillsboro Indian community. Whether you are a parent, a student, a community member, or a visitor, we hope that you find our website helpful and useful. I encourage you to contact me or any of our staff members with your questions or suggestions.

Go Indians!

HMS Students Experience "Real World" Financial Exercise

As adults, each of us works hard to make our monthly income cover the necessities and will have some left over at the end of the month for retirement savings and long-term goals. Wouldn’t it be great if we could have had a “trial run” at adult spending decisions while we were still young and able to choose our future career?
