The HHS mission is to create a collaborative learning environment where success is the only option. We realize that this is only possible through the active participation of all stakeholders in the educational process.

HHS, home to over 800 students and 75 certified and classified staff members, is the largest school in Highland County; we offer a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular activities that challenge our students in multiple ways.

Our broad and comprehensive curriculum makes it possible for HHS students to prepare for the workplace or post-secondary study in many ways. We offer eight Advanced Placement courses (Calculus, Government, U.S. History, World History, Biology, Economics, Literature and Language. We offer four on-site dual credit courses including: College Algebra, College Trigonometry, Chemistry, and Physics.  We also have a comprehensive Agricultural Education program that provides a solid foundation for a career in the agriculture industry. The Industrial Technology department offers programs in metal and wood fabrication.   Our newest program is Project Lead the Way. PLTW is a pre-engineering program that encompasses a highly concentrated math and science curriculum designed to prepare students for the rigors and demands of higher education. Students can also benefit from Agricultural Education and PLTW by earning credit towards courses at SSCC if they decide to further their education after high school. Computer Programing and Technology is also a highlight, as our programs prepare students for all levels of computer literacy. Many of our students participate in summer camps and have placed at the top in competitions. When it comes to Fine Arts we have one of the best band and choral programs in the state. The choir has received recognition and performed several times at the OMEA Conference. The visual arts program is also very successful with many students often receiving recognition for their talent.

The High School offers several activities/organizations for students to be involved in including, NHS, Student Council, FFA and 16 varsity athletics. Athletics include tennis, soccer, cross country, track/field, football, baseball, volleyball, wrestling, golf, softball, basketball, swimming and bowling. The athletic complex includes one of the best 8 lane track and field facilities at the high school level in the state.  The complex is also utilized for boys and girls soccer competition.

Curriculum Night at Hillsboro Elementary is scheduled for Thursday, September 29

Curriculum Night at Hillsboro Elementary is scheduled for Thursday, September 29: Teachers will be providing an overview of what is expected from your students and what you can expect from them for homework, testing, etc. Teachers will begin their discussions at 7:00, 7:15, 7:30 and 7:45. If your child has 2 teachers, expect to be here for 30 minutes if you want to hear from both teachers. Just start out in your child's homeroom classroom.

The 2015-2016 yearbooks have arrived. You may pick up your yearbook in the high school office during both high school lunches. If you are picking it up for someone else, you must have the receipt (if they still have it), or you MUST have a signed note stating you have permission to pick up the yearbook.

As a result of 2015/16 HHS Parent, Staff and Student Surveys the administration will continue to
look at ways to improve the culture and support of students and staff at HHS. Unfortunately
only 3 parent surveys were completed, therefore there is not significant data to address any
consistent concerns.

Mark Mrochek of Voya Financial Speaks to Financial Literacy Students

Mark Mrochek, an Investment Advisor Representative with Voya Financial, spoke to the HHS Financial Literacy classes on Wednesday, April 20. The students have been learning about investments and retirement plans and Mr. Mrochek offered some insight into why it's important to plan for your financial future and provided examples of different investment options that young people can consider.
