Students will learn about the life of Henri Matisse and the obstacles he faced dealing with cancer when it came to making art. Post cancer, Matisse switched from painting to cut paper pieces. This lesson is a follow up of a second grade project that is based on Matisse paintings before his illness. We will use paper to create a collage with our names cut out of paper. The background will be a collage or design of the student’s choice. The students name will be cut out of pieces of paper.
