For our unit on Mexico, students are introduced to El Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. This is one of Mexico's most important holidays as it is a time for them to remember loved ones who have passed away.
For our still life, students look at examples of still life art work and then learn how to use specific drawing pencils such as HB, 3B, 5B, 6B along with a blending stump for shading. The use of shading is crucial to the success of the drawing.
Students were challenged to draw the objects in the still life exactly as they saw them.
