In Mexico, during el Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, families do many things to remember loved ones who have passed away. This includes baking breads and cooking favorite dishes. Sugar skulls are made of a sugar mixture and decorated with icing. Skeletons are often seen in traditional decorations not as scary but rather as humorous. Skeletons can be dressed in a way to represent family members. Marigolds are the traditional flower used to represent those who have died. In homes, small alters, or memorials are set up to remember family members. These displays can include pictures, candles, flowers, food and other memorabilia.
