Laurel Burch left her home in California at the age of 14. To make ends meet she did odd jobs such as cooking, cleaning and babysitting. While doing various jobs people started to notice her unique jewelry designs made out of odds and ends, including coins and beads. Through trading, selling, and giving her jewelry away, she started the fascination of collecting the art of Laurel Burch. Laurel Burch is most know for her colorful collection of cats. Burch's cats can be found on socks, handbags, earrings, coffee cups and more.
Our students were asked to pick a cat style and use their creativity to design the cat features. Students used oil pastels, markers, sequins and glue.
