For a different type of art, we experiment with bubbles! In class we talk about warm colors and cool colors and how we would identify those groups. Think of a hot stove, or fire...what colors do you think of? Red, yellow, and orange-those are the warm colors. How about grass under the shade of a big tree? Cool on your feet? Water, snow and ice all have blue and purple tones. Those are the cool colors.
To reinforce the groupings of warm and cool, each student blows their own bubbles into trays of each color group. Then we 'catch' the bubbles on pieces of paper to make interesting prints. The students will then select shapes to form a design or image on top of the bubbles.
