The Elements and Principles of Art and Design are the focus for this course. A pre-test and a post-test will be given to determine prior knowledge and knowledge gained in the course. Projects completed include sculpture, drawing, and painting. Learning to write about and discuss art are also components to this course. Analysis of art is achieved through self-critique, peer-critique and critique of a significant artist’s work in history. Assessments are based on specific criteria to be met within the project including effort, craftsmanship and creativity. Successful completion of the Art I course allows the student to move onto the next level course, Art II.
In order to be considered for Advanced Art Classes, students must earn at least a C in both Art I and II. Students earning a grade of C in both Art I and II must go through a review process to be admitted into the advanced level classes.
