Description:
First grade music expands on the concepts learned in Kindergarten. Among many other things, first grade music students will begin reading simple rhythms with quarter and eighth notes as well as quarter rests. As the year progresses, students will learn to follow written music with song lyrics. First graders will also compose simple melodies and improvise lyrics to known songs as a class.
