Mobile Dentist Coming to Hillsboro Elementary

The Mobile Dentist will be coming to Hillsboro Elementary February 4 - February 7. Parents can visit www.MySchoolDentist.com to register their child to visit the dentist.

No School on Monday, January 21

As a reminder, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there is no school on Monday, January 21.

Business Co-op Student Hard at Work

HHS Business Co-op student, Caoimhe C., is pictured with Hillsboro KFC Manager Brittany Bayless. Caoimhe is permitted to leave school after 4th period each day to go to work at KFC. She receives high school credit for working.

Business Class Visits Batter Up Bakery

On January 11th, the HHS Business Co-op class visited Batter Up Bakery. Students took a tour of the facility and learned how business marketing plays a key role in business management. They also really enjoyed the delicious smells and sweet treats.

Vaccination Clinic for 6th and 11th graders

The Highland County Health Department will be providing 6th graders and 11th graders the opportunity to receive the required vaccinations at Hillsboro High School on March 21 from 8 am - 12 pm. For more information, click here.

Mrs. Howland's Class Collecting Canned Food Donations

Mrs. Howland's class at Hillsboro High School is sponsoring a "Souper Canned Food Drive" January 15-29. The students wanted to participate in a community service project and decided to collect non-perishable food items for those less fortunate. Donations can be placed in boxes near the middle and high school offices, as well as, in a box by the high school student parking lot entrance. Donations can also be dropped off in room 1512 at the high school. All collected food items will be donated to local food pantries in Highland County.

Hillsboro FFA Chapter Adopt-A-Family A Bit Different This Year

The Hillsboro FFA Chapter held its annual Christmas Adopt-a-Family. The chapter decided to help several kids in need within the school district this year. A total of 152 students received hats and gloves as a Christmas gift. All the students in the FFA classes took a day to get involved and help wrap the presents. The money used to purchase the hats and gloves was earned through the chapter's annual 5K race held each October.

Hillsboro Indians Pee Wee Basketball Cheer Camp

The Hillsboro cheerleaders are holding a pee wee basketball cheer camp January 22-24 at Hillsboro Elementary. The cost is $35. For more information, click here.

Hillsboro Middle School Spelling Bee

Hillsboro Middle School recently held its annual spelling bee with Brianna B. being crowned the champion. The runner-up was Landen S. and Olivia S.was the third-place winner. NCB awarded a $50 gift card to the first-place winner and a $25 gift-card to the runner-up. Brianna will participate in a computer-based semifinal round. Seventy of the top scorers in the semifinals qualify for the WCPO 9 On Your Side Regional Spelling Bee on March 16, 2019 at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.

Hillsboro FFA Chapter Members Participate in Food Science Contest

Members of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter participated in the Food Sceince Contest at Felicity High School on November 15, 2018 where they placed 8th overall. Alora B. finished 7th in districts for individual scores.

Hillsboro FFA Members Participate in Job Interview Contest

On November 4, the Hillsboro FFA Chapter had three members participate in the sub-district job interview contest at McClaiin High School. Jaiden H. qualified for districts which was November 8. She placed 5th overall at the district level. The job interview contest is a great tool to prepare kids for the future and help them understand the process you go through to get a job.

Hillsboro FFA Chapter Holds Greenhand Banquet

On November 14, the Hillsboro FFA Chapter held their annual Greenhand Banquet. At the banquet the first year members get honored with their Greenhand FFA degree pin. This year, 29 members were recognized. To be eligible for the Greenhand FFA degree members must be currently enrolled in an agriculture education class, have a satisfactory plan for a supervised agriculture experience, as well has display basic knowledge of the components of FFA, such as the official colors, FFA history, and the proper use of official dress.

Red Ribbon Week Addresses Drug Free Living

Students at Hillsboro Elementary pledge to live drug free. Red ribbons signified their goal of staying away from drugs.
