HHS Wiffle Ball Tournament Announced

The 2nd Annual HHS Wiffle Ball Tournament will be hosted on Saturday, August 26 at Shaffer Park in Hillsboro. Teams consist of 4-6 people and there are different age divisons. The cost for ages 7-13 is $50 per team and the cost for ages 14 and up is $100 per team. Hillsboro FFA Chapter Members Complete SAE

 

Each year, in addition to classroom learning and participation in FFA activities, FFA members complete a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) project as one of the three components of agriculture education. Through their SAE projects students are able to learn through hands on experiences in the field of agriculture. Members are able to complete a variety of SAE projects including ownership/entrepreneurship of an agricultural business, job placement in an agricultural-based business, research through experimentation, or exploration of a career in agriculture.

HCS Staff Ready for a New School Year

The Hillsboro City Schools staff members met in a district day meeting on Tuesday, August 8. The HHS marching band and cheerleaders led the staff in the fight song and victory cheer. Following, Tim Davis addressed the staff and celebrated this past year's successes and challenged the staff to make this school year even more successful.

Athletic Department Announces Season Pass Availability

The Hillsboro Athletic Department would like to remind the Hillsboro community that we are now members of the Frontier Athletic Conference. All conference home and away contests will charge $5.00 admission for all individuals school age and older. There will no longer be student or senior citizen pricing. Please keep in mind, when we travel to non-conference contests, prices may be higher.

First Week of School Schedule for Students Entering Kindergarten

KINDERGARTEN UPDATE: For parents of students entering Kindergarten for the 17-18 school year, there have been a couple of changes regarding the testing schedule for the first week of school: Testing for all kindergarten students will be August 15, 16 & 17. Girls only will go on the 18, boys only will go on the 21. All boys and girls will go on the 22. Should you have additional questions or concerns, please contact Pam Hollon at the Hillsboro Elementary at 937-393-3132.


Hillsboro FFA Chapter Members Attend Leadership Conference

 

On July 11, 2017, three members of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter had the opportunity to attend the Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. hosted by the National FFA Organization. Members attended the session from all over the United States. The week long leadership conference had twelve workshops to help FFA members become better leaders and to give them ideas for their “living to serve plans” and how they can reach out to their communities and better serve their chapters.

About the District:

With an enrollment of nearly 2,700 students, Hillsboro City School District is the largest of the five public schools systems in rural Highland County. The district boundaries encompass the city of Hillsboro (county seat of Highland County) as well as much of the surrounding rural area in central Highland County.

Our Educational Program:

 Hillsboro City Schools' educational programs are focused on providing multiple avenues,  academic experiences, and academic supports to help EVERY child make his/her way to success in life. Our Curriculum is carefully planned to align with the State of Ohio Content Standards and Common Core Standards. At all grade levels, we take extreme care to asses each student's academic progress and provide "Tiers of Intervention" for students who are not meeting the academic standards.  We provide academic challenges for students that are above the standard.

In addition to the traditional high school curricula, Hillsboro High School offers extensive curricular options in Advanced Placement Courses, Post-Secondary Courses, and outstanding options in Vocational Agriculture and Fine Arts.

Hillsboro, Ohio is located in the gently rolling hills of scenic Highland County, Ohio at the junction of US Highway 50 and US Highway 62.
 
With a population of  6,368 (according to the US Census Bureau, 2000), the quiet town  can be reached by travelling East from Cincinnati along US Route 50 or by travelling South-West from Columbus on US Route 62.

According to the US Census Bureau report for the 2000 Census*  the population of Hillsboro is 45.3% male and 54.7% female. The population's racial mixture is 91.8% White, 6.9% black, 1.3% Asian, and 0.7% American Indian. 41% of the 25 year and older population have achieved a high school diploma and 31.9% have education beyond high school 4.7% with Bachelor's Degrees and 6.2% with professional or graduate degrees. The mean household income is $25,998.(*http://censtats.census.gov/data/OH/1603935560.pdf)

The Hillsboro City School District includes the City of Hillsboro as well as a large portion of the surrounding rural Highland County area.
