HCS Tomahawk Food Truck Information

Join us on Thursday, May 24 at the Hillsboro City Schools central office location from 11 AM - 2 PM to kick-off the HCS Tomahawk food truck. There will be many fun activities such as bouncy houses, arts & crafts, face painting, hula hoops, frisbees, and a bubble machine. Hillsboro Elks Sponsoring Youth Golf League

The Hillsboro Elks golf course is hosting a summer golf league for students in grades 5-8. The clinic will be held every Friday from June 1 - July 6 from 9 AM - 12:30 PM. The entry fee is $5 and you can register by May 25 in the Hillsboro Elks pro shop. For more information, call 393-2940.


Girls Youth Basketball Camp to be held May 29 - June 1

Sports Physicals for 2018-19

The 2018-19 sports physical form is now available. You can access the form by clicking here, or you can pick up a blank form in the middle school or high school office. These are necessary for students participating in a school sponsored sport for grades 7-12.


Hillsboro Robotics Camp June 18-22

HHS Seniors Visit Hillsboro Elementary


Hillsboro Junior is Part of Championship AAU Team

Hillsboro junior, Mason S. is a member of the All Ohio Wolves AAU Basketball team that won the championship game at the 15th Annual Pre-national  Spring Jam Tournament at the Courts for Sports Athletic Complex in Cincinnati, Ohio this past weekend. The team had a runner-up finish at the Indiana Fast Break Fest in Indianapolis, Indiana this season as well. The team will be participating in the upcoming National AAU Tournament in either Orlando, Florida or Lexington, Kentucky.

HHS Class of 2018 Attends Kings Island

The senior class of 2018 went on a field trip to Kings Island on Monday, May 14th to celebrate this milestone of their education at Hillsboro City Schools.  Everyone had a great time. Congratulations class of 2018!

Peculiar Pet Visits HMS

Jaden S. brought in her pet sugar glider for a visit to Mr. Sedivy's Reading and Math Labs. The reading students used this opportunity to read and write about how the sugar glider is a "peculiar" animal, since "peculiar" is one of the vocabulary words in their current unit. Math students solved word problems based on sugar glider characteristics and qualities.

HHS Senior Owen Y. Wins 2018 Honda STEM Award

The winner of the 2018 Honda STEM Award is Owen Y.  The award recognizes the top math student in the senior class.  Owen has worked very hard over the past four years to further his understanding of mathematics.  Congratulations Owen!‚Äč

HES Students Participate in Poster Contest

On May 9, students in Mrs. Myers' and Mrs. Tomko's classes celebrated the close of their once a month "Read with Buddy" with popsicles and sidewalk art.

Hillsboro Girls Basketball Youth Camp

The Hillsboro Lady Indians basketball youth camp for girls entering grades 3-8 for the 2018-19 school year is scheduled for May 29-June 1. Fore more information, click here.


HMS 8th Graders Travel to Washington DC

Ninety-four members of the eighth-grade class from Hillsboro Middle School travelled to
Washington DC from May 1, 2018 to May 4, 2018. Students toured the US Capitol, The
Smithsonian of Air and Space Museum, The American History Museum, The Washington
National Cathedral, and Arlington National Cemetery. In addition students visited the following
memorials: The WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Lincoln, Jefferson, FDR, Washington and the MLK.
Students stopped at the White House for pictures. On the return trip, students stopped in
Gettysburg, PA and were given a guided tour of the battlefields before departing for home.

Hillsboro Students Compete in Special Olympics Track & Field Meet

On Friday, April 27, three Hillsboro HS students competed in the Special Olympics track and field meet at the University of Rio Grande. Congratulations to: Matt A. who earned a gold medal in the 100 meter dash and the long jump, Jordan H. who earned a silver medal in the softball throw and the 50 meter dash, and Cody S. who earned a bronze medal in the softball throw and placed 4th in the 50 meter dash. These students will compete at the state level in June.

About the District:

With an enrollment of nearly 2,700 students, Hillsboro City School District is the largest of the five public schools systems in rural Highland County. The district boundaries encompass the city of Hillsboro (county seat of Highland County) as well as much of the surrounding rural area in central Highland County.

Hillsboro, Ohio is located in the gently rolling hills of scenic Highland County, Ohio at the junction of US Highway 50 and US Highway 62.
 
With a population of  6,368 (according to the US Census Bureau, 2000), the quiet town  can be reached by travelling East from Cincinnati along US Route 50 or by travelling South-West from Columbus on US Route 62.

According to the US Census Bureau report for the 2000 Census*  the population of Hillsboro is 45.3% male and 54.7% female. The population's racial mixture is 91.8% White, 6.9% black, 1.3% Asian, and 0.7% American Indian. 41% of the 25 year and older population have achieved a high school diploma and 31.9% have education beyond high school 4.7% with Bachelor's Degrees and 6.2% with professional or graduate degrees. The mean household income is $25,998.(*http://censtats.census.gov/data/OH/1603935560.pdf)
