HS Bowling Schedule Change

The bowling matches scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14 in Washington CH have been rescheduled to Saturday, Jan. 21.


YMCA after school program for 8th - 12th graders

YMCA after school program for 8th-12th graders.  HMS/HHS provides transportation to the YMCA and parents/guardians must pick students up at 5:00 pm.  Programs will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  Students must fill out an application with Mrs. Layne. Some of the activities offered are open gym, open swim, piano lessons, art class, Bible study, guitar lessons, and access to the fitness center.


College Credit Plus Program Meeting @ HHS on February 7

Students in grades 7-12 may be eligible to participate in college courses while in middle and high school. This program may be at no cost if attending a public institution of higher education (IHE) and may be at a reduced cost at a nonpublic IHE. A meeting will be held at Hillsboro High School on February 7 at 6:30 PM. For more information, click here.

Pee Wee Basketball Cheer Camp Announced

The HHS Cheerleaders are holding a pee wee basketball cheer camp for grades K-5 on Wed., 1/18, Thur., 1/19 and Mon., 1/23 with a live performance scheduled during the high school boys basketball games on Tue., 1/24.  For more information, click here.

HMS/HHS report cards were distributed on Monday, January 9. Hillsboro Elementary report cards were distributed on Tuesday, January 10.


HMS/HHS Students Encouraged to Participate in Social Emotional Month Activities

January is social emotional month and the counseling department has several activities planned for January.  Stations will be available in the lunch room during all lunches on 1/9, 1/23, and 1/30.

About the District:

With an enrollment of nearly 2,700 students, Hillsboro City School District is the largest of the five public schools systems in rural Highland County. The district boundaries encompass the city of Hillsboro (county seat of Highland County) as well as much of the surrounding rural area in central Highland County.

Our Educational Program:

 Hillsboro City Schools' educational programs are focused on providing multiple avenues,  academic experiences, and academic supports to help EVERY child make his/her way to success in life. Our Curriculum is carefully planned to align with the State of Ohio Content Standards and Common Core Standards. At all grade levels, we take extreme care to asses each student's academic progress and provide "Tiers of Intervention" for students who are not meeting the academic standards.  We provide academic challenges for students that are above the standard.

In addition to the traditional high school curricula, Hillsboro High School offers extensive curricular options in Advanced Placement Courses, Post-Secondary Courses, and outstanding options in Vocational Agriculture and Fine Arts.

Hillsboro, Ohio is located in the gently rolling hills of scenic Highland County, Ohio at the junction of US Highway 50 and US Highway 62.
 
With a population of  6,368 (according to the US Census Bureau, 2000), the quiet town  can be reached by travelling East from Cincinnati along US Route 50 or by travelling South-West from Columbus on US Route 62.

According to the US Census Bureau report for the 2000 Census*  the population of Hillsboro is 45.3% male and 54.7% female. The population's racial mixture is 91.8% White, 6.9% black, 1.3% Asian, and 0.7% American Indian. 41% of the 25 year and older population have achieved a high school diploma and 31.9% have education beyond high school 4.7% with Bachelor's Degrees and 6.2% with professional or graduate degrees. The mean household income is $25,998.(*http://censtats.census.gov/data/OH/1603935560.pdf)

The Hillsboro City School District includes the City of Hillsboro as well as a large portion of the surrounding rural Highland County area.
